At a glance
Synthetic heptapeptide derived from natural tuftsin. Approved as an anxiolytic (Selank) in Russia and some CIS states. Western phase-3 trials are absent; efficacy assessment relies on Russian research literature.

Selank is a glyproline-tuftsin analog. Proposed mechanisms include modulation of the GABAergic system, effects on serotonin bioavailability, and influence on enkephalinases. Animal studies show anxiolytic and neuroprotective markers; a clear receptor target is not established.

What the studies show
Human trial
Mensch
Zozulia AA. et al. 2008
Reduction of anxiety symptoms versus placebo reported in Russian clinical pilot studies
What does NOT follow: Studies mostly Russian, smaller samples, no Western peer review. No phase-3 trial per ICH standards has been published.
Animal model
Ratte
Anxiolytic effects in open-field and elevated-plus-maze tests documented in rats
What does NOT follow: Standard animal models for anxiolysis; translation to humans is not supported by large RCTs.
Preclinical
Zellkultur / Tier
Modulation of enkephalinase activity and altered cytokine profiles (IL-6) observed in preclinical studies
What does NOT follow: Mechanistic findings; clinical endpoint relevance not established.
05
Pharmacokinetics
Theoretical concentration curve at a half-life of 0.3 h. Pure pharmacokinetic model — not a dosing recommendation.
Which routes of administration the available studies describe — neutral reporting, not a usage guide.
Intranasal
In the Russian registration studies administered intranasally as a drop formulation.
07
Known adverse events from studies
Factual reporting of what studies observed. Not a safety statement for individual use.
Human trial
Low profile of documented adverse events
Data from Russian studies with small participant numbers; Western phase-3 safety evaluation absent.

Interactions & combinations
Documented interactions and contraindications from studies, prescribing information and guidelines. Where no data exists, this is stated.
Reporting of risks, NOT a combination guide. The absence of an entry does not mean „safe to combine“ but „not sufficiently studied“.
No documented interactions recorded
We have not yet found robustly documented interactions for this peptide. This does NOT mean none exist — the data is limited.

Anecdotal observations
Weakest evidence tier — not supported by studies
Reading note. This section gathers popular claims from communities and forums. They are explicitly marked as weakest-tier evidence. Unblinded self-reports are particularly prone to placebo, recall and confirmation biases.
Why no amounts or protocols are listed here. We deliberately show only WHAT communities report — not in what amount or how it is used. Anecdotal "doses" or "biohacker protocols" are neither verified nor standardised nor safe; publishing them would be a usage guide, which we do not provide on principle. Specific amounts belong in a conversation with a doctor, not in a forum.
In nootropic communities Selank is described as a 'mild' anxiolytic without tolerance development.
common in English-language nootropic forums
Not supported by studies: This claim is not supported by controlled long-term trials. Tolerance development has not been formally evaluated.

What online communities discuss
Recurring themes from Reddit, Quora and patient forums — synthetically summarised, sources linked. Not scientific evidence, but a signal of what users report. Deliberately separated from the study base.
Non-scientific sources. What users report in forums — synthetically summarised, paraphrased, with link to source. Not validated by studies.

Discussion frequency: frequent in nootropics communities, rare in German-language forums
In r/Nootropics, r/StackAdvice and English-language bio-hacking forums, Selank is repeatedly framed as a "benzodiazepine alternative without sedation". Users report subjective reduction of acute anxiety without cognitive dulling. Discussions revolve around intranasal use, onset time (~20–40 min) and stack combinations with Semax or L-theanine.
What this does NOT mean:Most Selank users have no benzodiazepine comparison from their own experience — the "alternative without sedation" framing is often constructed. Western controlled studies are extremely thin (Zozulia 2008 is the only peer-reviewed human study of notable size). Intranasal bioavailability in humans has not been systematically measured.
In Russia approved as Selank (intranasal) for anxiety disorders.

Reconstitution calculator
Pure mg/mL maths — works like a calculator. Not a usage recommendation.
Peptides ship as a dry powder. Once dissolved in a liquid (reconstitution), this calculator answers a single question: how much substance is in one millilitre of solution afterwards?
1Enter the vial's substance amount (printed on the label).
2Enter how much solvent you add.
3Result = concentration in mg per mL.

5 mg in 2 mL gives 2.50 mg/mL — each millilitre contains 2.50 mg of substance.
