Mechanism of action
Selank
Selank is a glyproline-tuftsin analog. Proposed mechanisms include modulation of the GABAergic system, effects on serotonin bioavailability, and influence on enkephalinases. Animal studies show anxiolytic and neuroprotective markers; a clear receptor target is not established.
Teduglutid
Teduglutide activates the GLP-2 receptor, promoting growth and regeneration of small-intestinal villi, increasing nutrient and fluid absorption and thereby reducing dependence on parenteral nutrition. The glycine substitution at position 2 makes it resistant to rapid breakdown by DPP-4.

Frequently asked questions
- What is the difference between Selank and Teduglutid?
- Selank is classified as "Research other", while Teduglutid is classified as "Research other". Selank: Synthetic heptapeptide derived from natural tuftsin. Approved as an anxiolytic (Selank) in Russia and some CIS states. Western phase-3 trials are absent; efficacy assessment relies on Russian research literature. Teduglutid: Teduglutide is a DPP-4-resistant analog of GLP-2 (glucagon-like peptide-2). It promotes growth and function of the intestinal mucosa and is approved for treating short bowel syndrome. This page contrasts both neutrally and source-based — with no usage or dosing recommendation.
- Which peptide is better supported by science, Selank or Teduglutid?
- The highest available evidence level is "Human trial" for Selank and "Human RCT" for Teduglutid. A higher evidence level means more robust data, but says nothing about suitability for an individual. The full body of evidence is on each peptide's own page.
- What is the legal status of Selank and Teduglutid in Germany and the United States?
- Germany: Selank — Unapproved, Teduglutid — Prescription. United States: Selank — Unapproved, Teduglutid — Prescription. These are factual summaries with source and review date on the individual pages.
